This week, Dan told us about his Apache 125cc, wheelies, and green laning to London.
So the Sinnis Terrain was your first bike?
You see, my first bike was a Yamaha YBR custom. But with touring in mind, I set my sights on early handling and good touring presence with my next bike, the Sinnis Terrain.
The Terrain not only allows you to ride on a CBT but gives you that touring feeling early in your motorcycling career without having to move too fast up the CCs. It’s pretty awesome when on my travels all kitted out.
How did you get into riding?
I began riding this year but have been a lifelong fan of motorcycles.

I was initially inspired to start riding by road cycling of which I am also a fan. The local cycling club, Foyle CC, has been a big part of my life.

“What’s the connection?” – I hear you ask. Well, my wife and I go to watch the Tour de France every year including, of course, our favourite part – the Grand Finale at the Champs-Élysées. It’s a spectacular sight with all the motos and outriders, the major TV networks filming on their motorcycles too. During the mountain stages, it’s just a courageous horde of motorcyclists and cyclists alike. So, I set my sights on a lifelong dream to follow the Tour by motorcycle, which should happen in the next year or two.
I live in Derry City, which is surrounded on one side by the Sperrin Mountains & the other by County Donegal. My doorstep is the gateway to The Wild Atlantic Way, where many adventures can be had or even planned for further afield – it has some of Europe’s finest scenery – climbs up mountain passes to keep you entertained any week of the year.

I’m waiting patiently for the development of the Terrain 380, which I know attracted lots of attention at the Overland event as a prototype this year and I’m hoping Sinnis will bring out mid-2020.
Until then, I will continue to put the Sinnis Terrain through its paces in Ireland – reccying cycling courses and travelling the Wild Atlantic Way, Causeway Coast, Maiden City, and singing their praises.
Slán! See you on the road.
Barney
